Programs

LECC

The Law Enforcement Coordinating Committee sponsors and co-sponsors training seminars for federal, state and local law enforcement agencies addressing a variety of subjects.

Project Safe Childhood

Project Safe Childhood (PSC) is a Department of Justice initiative launched in 2006 that aims to combat the proliferation of technology-facilitated sexual exploitation crimes against children. The threat of sexual predators soliciting children for physical sexual contact is well-known and serious; the danger of perpetrators who produce, distribute, and possess child pornography is equally dramatic and disturbing.

Project Safe Neighborhoods

Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN) is a nationwide commitment to reduce gun and gang crime in America by networking existing local programs that target gun and gun crime and providing these programs with additional tools necessary to be successful.

Victim Witness Assistance

Victims of crime may experience feelings of confusion, frustration, fear and anger. The United States Attorneys Office for the Southern District of Iowa Victim/Witness Unit is dedicated to making sure that victims of federal crimes and their family members are treated with compassion, fairness and respect.

Civil Rights

The United States Attorney’s Office, in coordination with the Civil Rights Division of the United States Department of Justice, is charged with enforcing certain federal civil rights laws throughout the Southern District of Iowa. These laws prohibit discrimination, protect the constitutional rights of residents, and affirm equal opportunity for all. The U.S. Attorney’s Office enforces civil rights through civil litigation and criminal prosecution and, in all cases, represents the interests of the United States.
