On August 13, the ICITAP-Philippines mission concluded a four-part webinar series, which began on July 29, on Internal Affairs best practices involving administrative misconduct investigations.
On August 11, the ICITAP-hosted work sessions with the Deputy Director-General of the Dominican National Police and the Director of the Police Directorate for Attention to Women and Domestic Violence (DEAMVI) to present the initial proposal and collectively define institutional scope, develop objectives, and work components of the Institutional Commission for Family and Women (CIFAMU).

On August 5, the ICITAP-Somalia mission reported that, during the week of August 2, the newly arrived ICITAP Latent Print (LP) mentor provided training on the dusting for and lifting of latent fingerprints.
On August 3, the Costa Rican Department of Forensic Science became the second international laboratory to be awarded a certificate from the U.S. Department of Commerce’s National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) as a recognized implementer of forensic standards issued the Organization of Scientific Area Committees (OSAC).

A housing and evictions crisis is looming. As federal and local eviction moratoria expire in the coming days, eviction filings are expected to spike. Women and people of color will be disproportionately impacted as they comprise an outsized share of the over 6 million renter households that are behind on rent. Historical and structural inequities will deepen unless we act.

On July 29, ICITAP proudly hosted the Commissioner of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), who discussed, among many important topics, advancing equity, accountability, and trust in law enforcement with over 100 interagency and international participants.
On July 26, 2021, the ICITAP-Somalia Mission Advisor and the United Nations Office of Drugs and Crime (UNODC) Country Director conducted a joint visit to the Somali Police Force (SPF) Training Academy. During the visit, an extensive tour of the Academy was conducted including newly refurbished classrooms, student barracks, and an alternate power generator facility.
