Chapter 5 – Electronic Records and Filing

5.1 – ECAS

The EOIR Courts & Appeals System (ECAS) is part of the agency’s overarching information technology effort.  The goal of ECAS is to phase out paper filing and processing and retain all records and case-related documents in electronic format. As of February 11, 2022, electronic filing through ECAS is mandatory for all attorneys and accredited representatives and DHS personnel practicing before EOIR’s Immigration Courts and the Board of Immigration Appeals in cases eligible for electronic filing.

For further information, including Terms and Conditions, FAQs, a User Manual, and training materials, please visit EOIR’s website. Visit the ECAS portal for registration and case information.
