Thank you, Director Peters, for that kind welcome and introduction — and thank you for your steadfast and inspiring leadership of the Federal Bureau of Prisons.

Good morning and welcome. It’s a pleasure to join you all today.

I’m honored to be joining all of you today to help open ATF’s Inaugural Gun Violence Survivors’ Summit.

Good morning. It’s great to be back in Chicago and to be here with partners and colleagues from ATF, the U.S. Attorney’s Office, the Chicago Police Department, and the Illinois Attorney General’s Office.

Thank you, Dawn, for that very kind introduction — and thank you all for welcoming me and for being here.

I want to start by welcoming everyone to the Great Hall this morning. We often honor the most significant achievements that advance the Department's mission in this space — so it’s fitting that we’re together here recognizing Second Chance Month.
