Comments regarding September 11th victim compensation fund
In reviewing the proposed legislation and comments I
would like to express my concerns. The way the
legislation reads presently, women who lived with men
who would be their future husbands can not benefit.
There are many women who lost the man they were going
to marry but unfortunately they were killed before the
wedding dates. These women, including myself, deserve
to be compensated separate from the "next of kin". I
have seen numerous comments addressing the same
concern and know I am among many young women in the
same situation. I would ask that the legislation
consider me and the other women as potential claimants
and give us the ability to receive the financial
support that their future husbands would have
provided. The majority of us effected in this way are
young and would have had a life time of earnings, love
and support. Unfortunately, the love and support can
not be replaced but our pain and suffering is
unbelievable and should be compensated.
