Alexa Chappell received her bachelor degree in Public Finance from the School of Public and Environmental Affairs at Indiana University, and her Juris Doctor from Michigan State University.
Following law school, Ms. Chappell primarily worked in vetting and compliance. She also spent time organizing and managing internship programs and advance work.
In 2009, Ms. Chappell was appointed to serve as the Special Assistant to the Director of the Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) for the US Department of Justice. She staffed the Director and served on several internal COPS working groups in addition to representing the Director on many of the Department of Justice working groups. Ms. Chappell focused on the Coordinated Tribal Assistance Solicitation and the Children Exposed to Violence Initiative.
Her work at the Office of Intergovernmental and Public Liaison focuses on working with state and local governments, other federal agencies, external constituency groups, and the public.
