Thank you, Steve for that kind introduction and for nearly a quarter century of service to the Department of Justice. You’ve had some big shoes to fill, following Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, but you’re doing the difficult work to keep your hometown safe.

Thank you, John for that kind introduction, and thank you for your service to this Department. You’ve done a great job of ensuring that the trains run on time while we wait for my former colleagues in the Senate to act.

Thank you, Sandie, for that kind introduction, and thank you for taking your extensive experience in the legal community and in the business world alike and putting it to good use here at the World Bank. On behalf of President Trump, I want to thank Baroness Williams and the U.K. delegation.  The United States is proud to co-host the forum with you.  We are proud to call attention to the important work that’s been done – and the important work that lies ahead – in our shared fight against crime.

Good morning, and thank you all for being here. I’d like to especially thank DEA Administrator Patterson for being here and for his leadership on this issue. DEA plays a vital role in our efforts here as you all know.

Thank you, General Meese, for those kind words, and thank you for your service to this country.  I believe that you are one of the greatest Attorneys General ever to serve.  I keep your picture on the wall of our conference room as a reminder of the example that you set for me and for all of your predecessors.  

On my first day in this job, I spoke about the “critical role we at the Department play in maintaining and strengthening the rule of law, which forms the foundation for our liberty, our safety, and our prosperity. In this rule of law, we are blessed beyond all nations.

Thank you, Mike for that kind introduction. More importantly, thank you for your leadership at the Northern California Regional Intelligence Center and as President of the NFCA. Thank you for more than 20 years of service in law enforcement.

Thank you, Attorney General Hill, for that kind introduction. And thank you for your 14 years of service as a prosecutor. I also want to congratulate you on receiving more votes than any statewide candidate in Indiana history. I think that’s a sign that the people of Indiana are grateful for your work.

Thank you, Joon for that kind introduction. And thank you for your decade of service to the people of New York and to this country. In particular I want to commend you for your efforts that led to the conviction of Peter Gotti and other organized crime figures. That’s outstanding work that has had a major impact on this community. When we planned this trip to talk about terrorism and national security, we were certainly not expecting the terrible events of Tuesday.

Thank you, Director Russo, for that kind introduction. I especially want to thank you and your brother for following in your Dad’s footsteps and going into law enforcement. Thank you for 22 years of service making your hometown safer.

Thank you for that introduction. President Trump spoke here a little more than a week ago. In eloquent terms, he talked about the legal traditions handed down to us which are the “legacy” of our Founders. He spoke of the urgent necessity to “rededicate ourselves to the defense of our God-given rights” and he has done more than talk. He is nominating truly outstanding judges for our courts who understand these principles. I am very proud of this judicial record and to serve in his Justice Department.
