To Newark From New York City:

From the George Washington Bridge, follow signs for I-95 and the New Jersey Turnpike South. (To stay on I-95 when it splits with I-80, bear right from the express lanes or left from the local lanes.) Take the New Jersey Turnpike South--
--either to Exit 14 (Newark Airport) and follow the directions from * below,
--or to Exit 15W (I-280, Kearny, and Newark) and follow the directions from ** below.

From the Lincoln Tunnel, take the New Jersey Turnpike South--
--either to Exit 14 (Newark Airport) and follow the directions from * below,
--or to Exit 15W (I-280, Kearny, and Newark) and follow the directions from ** below.

From the Holland Tunnel, take Route 78 West (the New Jersey Turnpike Spur) to Exit 14 (Newark Airport) and follow the directions from * below.


* From New Jersey Turnpike, Exit 14: After the toll, follow signs for Route 22 and then Route 21 North to Newark. Follow Route 21 (McCarter Highway) into Newark. An elevated railway parallels Route 21 on the right. At the tenth traffic light, after an Exxon gas station and before a Hess gas station, turn left onto Walnut Street. Go one block and turn left at the blinking light onto Mulberry Street. (Walnut Street ahead is closed to vehicles). The Martin Luther King, Jr. Federal Courthouse will be on your right. See map for the locations of the other federal buildings and public (pay) parking.

** From New Jersey Turnpike, Exit 15W: Take I-280 West approximately 2.7 miles to Exit 15A (Route 21, Belleville, and Newark), which is immediately after a large black drawbridge. On the exit ramp, continue straight to the traffic light and turn left onto Broad Street. Follow Broad Street for 4/10 of a mile. Bear right to stay on Broad Street. Stay on Broad for another 8/10 of a mile. Pass City Hall (gold dome) on the left. One block later, after the intersection on the right with Court Street, which is Walnut Street on the left (and which is closed to vehicles), the Federal Building is on the left. To Newark From the West Via Route 78:

Take I-78 East, staying to the right for the local lanes. Take Exit 57 and bear right, following the signs for Route 21 North, Newark. As you cross the bridge, stay to the left to get onto Route 21 North. An elevated railway parallels Route 21 on the right. At the tenth traffic light, after an Exxon gas station and before a Hess gas station, turn left onto Walnut Street. Go one block and turn left at the blinking light onto Mulberry Street. To Newark From the West Via Route 280 East:

Take I-280 East to Exit 14 (Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd.) At the end of the ramp, turn right onto MLK Blvd. Go straight through the light at Orange Street and through the next light at Central Avenue (St. Michael's Medical Center on the left). Pass Rutgers University and Essex County College, go straight at the next major intersection (Springfield Avenue), pass St. Dominick's Academy, and go straight at the next intersection (Williams Street). Immediately after the funeral home on the left, turn left onto Court Street. Go straight through two traffic lights (University Avenue and Washington Street). At Broad Street, the road straight ahead (Walnut Street) is blocked. The Federal Building is on the far right corner. See map for the locations of the courthouses and public (pay) parking.

To Newark From the South:

Take the New Jersey Turnpike North to Exit 13A. After the toll, stay to the left
to get onto Route 1 & 9 North. Pass Newark International Airport on the right
and the Budweiser plant on the left. Follow the signs for Routes 21 and 22 and
Newark Downtown (bearing left) and then for Route 21 North into Newark
(bearing right). Cross the bridge over I-78. Proceed north on Route 21
(McCarter Highway) into Newark. An elevated railway parallels Route 21 on the
right. At a traffic light turn left onto Walnut Street, which is past an Exxon gas
station and before a Hess gas station. Go one block and turn left at the
blinking light onto Mulberry Street. (Walnut Street ahead is closed to vehicles).
The Martin Luther King, Jr. Federal Courthouse will be on your right. See map

To Camden From the North or South Via the New Jersey Turnpike:

Take the New Jersey Turnpike to Exit 4. After the toll, proceed on Route 73 North approximately one mile to Route 38 West. After five or six miles, route 38 will merge with Route 30. (Bear right twice as they merge; sign says Ben Franklin Bridge/Phila./Camden.) Proceed on Route 30 West for approximately one mile, where the road forks. Take the ramp to the right, which is marked Rutgers/Camden Business District and "Local Traffic Only, Last Exit Before Toll." Continue straight ahead to Seventh Street, which is the last light before the bridge toll plaza, and turn left. Pass the first traffic light at Cooper Street and turn right at the second traffic light onto Market Street. Pass four streets on the right. The Federal Building & U.S. Courthouse, where the U.S. Attorney's Office is located, is on the right between Fifth Street and Fourth Street.

To Camden From the South:

Take Route 42 North (either from the Atlantic City Expressway or from Route 55 North). On Route 42 North, stay to the right and follow signs for the Ben Franklin Bridge/Camden/Philadelphia, which will put you onto Route 76 West. From Route 76 West, exit right to Route 676 North (toward the Ben Franklin Bridge, not toward the Walt Whitman Bridge). Take the last exit before the bridge toll, following the sign for Rutgers/Camden Business District. Turn left onto Linden Street at the traffic light at end of ramp. Turn left onto Seventh Street at the next traffic light, which is the last light before the bridge toll plaza. Pass the first traffic light at Cooper Street and turn right at the second traffic light onto Market Street. Pass four streets on the right. The Federal Building & U.S. Courthouse, where the U.S. Attorney's Office is located, is on the right between Fifth Street and Fourth Street.

Parking options:
1. Parking lot on the corner of Fifth and Market, on your right.
2. Parking garage in the Parkade Building: Turn left at the traffic light at Fifth and Market. The entrance to the garage is a half block up on your left.
3. Street parking (parking meters).

The U.S. Attorney's Office (4th Floor) and Judge Irenas (3rd floor) are in the Federal Building. The new Federal Courthouse is directly behind the Post Office Building. The entrance is on Cooper Street between Fourth and Fifth Streets.

To Trenton From the North or East:

From the North, take the New Jersey Turnpike South to Exit 7A (Trenton/Shore Points). After the toll, follow signs to I-195 West (Trenton) and follow the directions from * below.

From the East, take I-195 West and follow the directions from * below.

* I-195 West will become Routes 29/129. Bear right to stay on Route 129 and proceed to the end, where it will merge with Route 1 North. Take the first exit (Perry Street). Turn right sharply at the end of the ramp onto Carroll Street. Take the first right onto E. State Street. Pass the federal courthouse on your right, immediately after the courthouse cross over Route 1, and take the first right at the traffic light onto Canal Street. Parking is available in the pay parking lot directly in front of you. Cross Route 1 on foot back to the courthouse. The Criminal Division of the U.S. Attorney's Office is on the fourth floor, and the Civil Division is on the fifth floor.

To Trenton From the South:

Take I-295 North to Exit 60 (Routes 29/129/I-195; Trenton/Shore Points). Stay left at the fork in the ramp, heading toward Trenton. When Route 29 and Route 129 divide, bear right to take Route 129 North toward Trenton. Stay on Route 129 to the end, where it will merge with Route 1 North. Take the first exit (Perry Street). Turn right sharply at the end of the ramp onto Carroll Street. Take the first right onto E. State Street. Pass the federal courthouse on your right, immediately after the courthouse cross over Route 1, and take the first right at the traffic light onto Canal Street. Parking is available in the pay parking lot directly in front of you. Cross Route 1 on foot back to the courthouse. The Criminal Division of the U.S. Attorney's Office is on the fourth floor, and the Civil Division is on the fifth floor.
