USAO Academy - Summer Law Camp

The Summer Law Camp is an opportunity for high school students interested in pursuing a career in the law to learn more about the legal profession. This interactive, free of  charge, three-day program taught by career federal prosecutors is designed to provide an overview of the American Criminal Justice System; introduce participants to the Federal Rules of Evidence; and encourage students to think as lawyers. Participants will also have an opportunity to take a field trip to the United States Federal Courthouse and participate in a mock trial competition.

What is the U.S. Attorney’s Office Summer Law Camp?

The Summer Law Camp is an opportunity for high school students interested in pursuing a career in the law to learn about the legal profession. What is the COVID-19 protocol?

In accordance with the Department of Justice’s Updated COVID-19 Workplace Safety Protocol, masks are required when COVID-19 Community Levels rise to “High.” Accordingly, if at the beginning of the camp or during the camp COVID-19 Community Levels in Mecklenburg County become “High,” students will be required to wear a mask while in a federal facility.

Where and how can participants register for the program?

Registration deadline is TBD. Completed application is required. Space is limited. 

What is the duration of the program?

This is a half-day, three-day program.

Where can parents/guardians drop off and pick up students?

Participants will be dropped off and picked up in front of the Carillon Building in Charlotte. Additional information and logistics, including pick-up and drop-off, and parking locations will be provided to the students who have been accepted to the program.
