The U.S. Attorney’s Office Summer Intern Program offers students opportunities in virtually every area of legal practice. Students are selected for the volunteer positions based on a combination of academic achievements, work experience and community involvement.

Each student is appointed to a particular division or unit within the U.S. Attorney’s Office where he/she works directly with Assistant U.S. Attorneys on pending investigations and cases.

In addition to an appointment to a particular area of legal focus, the summer interns also are provided opportunities to attend a variety of training seminars, attend a working lunch with federal judges of the Western District of Missouri, tour and watch oral arguments at the Western Missouri Court of Appeals, tour the Regional Computer Forensics Crime Laboratory, visit with officials from the U.S. Secret Service, attend firearms training, and spend a day with narcotics prosecutors at the Jackson County, Mo., Prosecutor’s Office.
