ANNISTON, Ala. – A multi-convicted felon has been sentenced for his role in a drug trafficking conspiracy involving hundreds of grams of methamphetamine, announced U.S. Attorney Phillip W. Williams Jr.
U.S. District Court Judge Corey L. Maze sentenced Logan Chase Turner, 28, to 15 years in prison. In June, Turner pleaded guilty to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute methamphetamine, possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, and felon in possession of a firearm.
“This defendant’s criminal history did not deter him from continuing to engage in serious criminal activity,” said U.S. Attorney Williams. “This 15-year sentence holds him accountable and reinforces our commitment to working with our law enforcement partners to target repeat offenders and dismantle drug-trafficking operations.”
“ATF prioritizes public safety and is committed to bringing individuals who unlawfully possess firearms to justice,” said ATF Special Agent in Charge James VanVliet. “Mr. Turner, a three-time convicted felon, demonstrated a pattern of criminal behavior by distributing dangerous drugs, illegally possessing a firearm in the furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, and ultimately rendering our community vulnerable to harm. ATF will continue to work with our state and local law enforcement partners to disrupt offenders like these.”
According to the plea agreement, agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) had been investigating Turner and his drug trafficking operations since December 2025. In January 2026, the 7th Judicial Major Crimes Unit obtained a search for Turner’s residence. During the search of the residence, officers seized drug paraphernalia, a Llama 1911 .45 caliber handgun, and more than 300 grams of methamphetamine.
Turner is prohibited from possessing a firearm because of his three prior felony convictions in 2023 and 2024, in the Circuit Court of Calhoun County. In March 2023, Turner was convicted of Trafficking Fentanyl and Attempted Assault; and in July 2024, he was convicted of Promoting Prison Contraband.
In April, he was charged as part of a Homeland Security Task Force investigation targeting a drug-trafficking organization in east Alabama.
This operation is part of the Homeland Security Task Force (HSTF) initiative established by Executive Order 14159, Protecting the American People Against Invasion. The HSTF is a whole-of-government partnership dedicated to eliminating criminal cartels, foreign gangs, transnational criminal organizations, and human smuggling and trafficking rings operating in the United States and abroad. Through historic interagency collaboration, the HSTF directs the full might of United States law enforcement towards identifying, investigating, and prosecuting the full spectrum of crimes committed by these organizations, which have long fueled violence and instability within our borders. In performing this work, the HSTF places special emphasis on investigating and prosecuting those engaged in child trafficking or other crimes involving children. The HSTF further utilizes all available tools to prosecute and remove the most violent criminal aliens from the United States. The Alabama HSTF is comprised of agents and officers from the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF), the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the United States Marshals Service (USMS), and the Internal Revenue Service, with prosecutions being led by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Alabama.
ATF investigated the case, along with the 7th Judicial Major Crimes Unit. Assistant U.S. Attorney Allison J. Garnett prosecuted the case.
