SCAM ALERT

The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia has received reports of individuals spoofing the main phone number to our office, using the names of government attorneys, or government titles with the office name, in an attempt to defraud individuals.

If you receive a phone call from someone who identifies themselves as calling from the U.S. Attorney’s Office and you are concerned about the legitimacy of the call, please:

(1) take down the caller’s name,

(2) hang up,

(3) call (703) 299-3700, 

(4) ask for the person by name.
