Case Information

On July 11, 2020 Marcus Catalin Rosu was charged by Complaint by the United States Attorney's Office, District of Alaska, with 1 Count of Possession of counterfeit access device-making equipment.  Mr. Rosu was subsequently charged on July 15, 2020 by Felony Information with 1 Count of Possession of counterfeit access device-making equipment.  Full details can be read by accessing the documents below.

Scheduled Court Hearings

July 16, 2020 at 1:00 pm, Virtual Courtroom 2:  An Initial Appearance on Complaint/Detention Hearing was held.  An Arraignment on Information was set for July 23, 2020 at 11:00 am in Virtual
Courtroom 2.  Defendant was ordered detained pending the arraignment. 

July 23, 2020 at 1:00 pm, Virtual Courtroom 2:  An Arraingment on Information was held.  Defendant waived his right to be charged by indictment. The defendant ordered to be detained.  He can file a bail request motion at any time. 

August 14, 2020:  Pursuant to Miscellaneous General Order 20-27, all criminal jury trials and all non-emergency criminal proceedings scheduled to commence on or before October 5, 2020, have been continued pending further order of the Court.  A date for the Final Pretrial Conference and Trial will be set in due course.

September 23, 2020:  The government filed a motion for Alternative Victim Notification Pursuant to 18 U.S.C. § 3771(d)(2).  The order was granted by the Court on October 15.  See court documents section below for government’s motion and order granting the motion.

December 7, 2020:  US Attorney's Office issued a press release regarding this case.  See press release below for details.

December 17, 2020:  Details of a plea agreement are being worked out.

January 4, 2021:  A signed plea agreement was filed with the Court.  See court documents section below to read a copy of the plea agreement

May 19, 2021: The sentecing scheduled for May 21, 2021 was vacated and will be rescheduled.

June 30, 2021:  Sentencing will be held at 11:00 am in Anchorage Courtroom 2.
