On February 8, ICITAP’s Engaging Multinational Policewomen on Equality and Rights (EMPoWER) program, in collaboration with the U.S. Department of State’s Anti-Terrorism Assistance (ATA) Program, hosted a working group session with law enforcement officers from diverse agencies driving counterterrorism efforts in Kenya.
On January 27, ICITAP and the National Job Task Analysis (JTA) working group delivered a presentation on the INL-funded and ICITAP-implemented JTA Initiative, which is being developed for the police officer and criminal investigator positions in the Ministry of Interior, Financial Police, and Customs Office.
Every year, we set aside the month of January in support of the millions of people across the country who are survivors of stalking. Stalking is a form of gender-based violence that permeates every community and every neighborhood – statistics show that one in three women and one in six men face stalking in their lifetimes. Research shows that the majority of perpetrators of these crimes are people whom the survivors know – and in many cases, at one time trusted.
On January 20, ICITAP-Colombia, with the support of the Bureau of International Narcotics and the Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) of the United States Department of State, held a closing ceremony to present the results and achievements highlights of the project "Technical Assistance to the Attorney General's Office of Colombia and other justice institutions to strengthen investigations of disappeared persons and human rights violations."
On January 16, ICITAP kicked off the U.S. European Command (EUCOM)-funded Advanced Suspect Interviewing (ASI) for Narcotics Investigations course at the Security Academy in Tirana.
On January 6, ICITAP celebrated its 37-year anniversary. Since January 6, 1986, ICITAP has strengthened national security by advancing U.S. law enforcement operations abroad through training, mentoring, and technical assistance in 112 countries worldwide.
On December 16, the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise of the Ukrainian Ministry of Justice hosted its fourth annual international conference on advances in forensic science.
