
Peter M. Maxey
Peter M. Maxey joined the Asset Forfeiture Management Staff (AFMS) in December 2019. He is responsible for the Financial and Administrative aspects of the Asset Forfeiture Program (AFP). Mr. Maxey manages an annual budget of approximately $1.6 billion supporting all 12 participating AFP components, annual receipts of approximately $1.7 billion into Assets Forfeiture Fund (AFF), over 50,000 seized assets worth approximately $2.5 billion in Seized Assets Deposit Fund (SADF) and the Consolidated Assets Tracking System (CATS) the systems record for seized assets. In addition, he is responsible for completing the annual audited Financial Statement for the AFF. Mr. Maxey started his Department of Justice career in 2005 in the Executive Office for the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) as the Executive Officer. He oversaw all administrative, budget, and execution functions for the OCDETF Program, which has funds of over $570 million consisting of funds from direct appropriations and the Assets Forfeiture Fund. Prior to joining DOJ and OCDETF, Mr. Maxey worked for the U.S. Department of Commerce for 15 years as a budget analyst at various levels ending as the Chief of the Performance, Policy and Systems Branch of the Departmental Budget Office. He started his federal career in 1990 as a Program Analyst for the U.S. Department of Navy in the Submarine Acquisition Office.
