BIA Operating Status During Lapse in Appropriations

The Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA) is processing emergency stay requests as well as cases where the alien is detained, including appeals, motions, and federal court remands. The phone line to the Clerk’s Office is open for inquiries (for detained cases only) and the BIA stay line is open (for emergency stay calls only). The BIA Clerk’s Office will be open Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (excluding Federal holidays) to receive all incoming mail.
