United States Supreme Court Building

The Land Acquisition Section secured the site for the construction of the United States Supreme Court building. After Washington, D.C. became the federal capital in 1800, the Court convened in many different Capitol building rooms, and even occasionally in nearby homes and taverns, before moving to its current home in Northeast Washington, D.C. Architect Cass Gilbert designed the current building, and it was completed in 1935.
