Sophia Suarez

Sophia Suarez serves as the Acting Chief of Staff to the Head of the Criminal Division. In this role, Sophia establishes and implements the strategic priorities and programmatic direction of the Division by advising the Head of the Criminal Division on a broad range of issues requiring their attention, including those relating to the management of the Division’s resources.

Prior to her appointment as the Acting Chief of Staff, Sophia served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Eastern District of New York. During her time with the United States Attorney’s Office, Sophia prosecuted and investigated a variety of cases with a focus on sex trafficking, organized crime and gangs.

Before working for the Department, Sophia was an attorney at a major law firm based in New York. She also clerked for the Honorable Raymond J. Dearie of the U.S. District Court in the Eastern District of New York. Sophia is a graduate of New York University School of Law and the University of Miami.
