Somalia: ICITAP Partners with State Department to Showcase Impact of Assistance Mission

On July 21, in partnership with the State Department’s Bureau of Counterterrorism (State/CT), the ICITAP-Somalia Mission Advisor led an exceptionally informative virtual presentation to 136 interagency and international partners about ICITAP’s history and current assistance work in Somalia. In 2018, ICITAP established a new assistance mission in Somalia to work with the Somali Police Force (SPF) and other Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) agencies. ICITAP provides training and mentoring to law enforcement personnel in terrorism-related criminal investigations, police intelligence and analysis, forensic techniques, and countering terrorist financing.  ICITAP also supports the development of a terrorist watchlisting capacity. ICITAP advisors work in conjunction with interagency and international partners including the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) Terrorist Explosive Device Analytical Center (TEDAC) and others. The ICITAP mission in Somalia partners closely with and is managed through funding from State/CT.
