Serbia: ICITAP Hosts Serious Organized Crime Threat Assessment Action Plan Implementation Workshop

On June 9, ICITAP-Serbia concluded a three-day Serious Organized Crime Threat Assessment - SOCTA 2 - Action Plan Implementation Workshop in Vrnjacka Banja, in partnership with the Serbian Ministry of Interior and Police University. The Ministry is strategically focused on strengthening regional and international cooperation in suppressing serious and organized crime. The SOCTA initiative is recommendation 6.2 of the EU action plan for Chapter 24. The SOCTA document, developed with the support of the ICITAP and INL, is a strategic overview of serious and organized crime in Serbia, including drugs, irregular migration, human trafficking, money laundering, corruption, and cybercrime. To effectively fight organized crime, certain recommendations have been made. The objective of the workshop is to draft the operational instructions recommended in the report.  A total of 25 representatives of all services within the MOI actively participated in the workshop. Upon its conclusion, the Working Group finalized the draft document and submit it for the Minister of Interior's review. In Serbia, ICITAP works with the support of and in coordination with the State Department’s Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL).
