Panama: ICITAP Delivers Training on Crime Scene Latent Print Recovery

On September 6, ICITAP completed a one-week training module on latent print recovery for 26 crime scene investigators from the Panama Institute of Legal Medicine and Sciences (IMELCF). Participants learned best practices and proven procedures for successfully enhancing documentation and recovering fingerprint impressions from different surfaces found on objects in crime scenes. This training is expected to have an immediate impact on crime scene investigations in Panama, increasing the number and quality of fingerprint evidence that will be recovered by ICITAP-trained IMELCF experts. In Central America, ICITAP works with the support of and in coordination with the State Department’s Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL).
