Pakistan: ICITAP Delivers Interview and Interrogation Training for Terrorism Finance Investigations

On September 17, ICITAP completed a one-week virtual training program for 18 police investigators and financial intelligence specialists, who are engaged in combatting money laundering and terrorism financing in Pakistan. Participants in this training learned how to conduct professional interviews and how to recognize the verbal and non-verbal signs of candor and deception during these interviews for purposes of establishing a baseline of behavior that would justify the final step of interrogation.  Attendees learned the importance of timing and technique of interrogating criminal subjects, interrogation environment, as well as methodology of approach and documentation of confession. This program is implemented in coordination with and with funding from the Department of State’s Bureau of Counterterrorism.
