Dominican Republic: ICITAP Supports Improving Evaluations of National Police

On September 22, the ICITAP mission in the Dominican Republic provided technical assistance to the Dominican National Police Human Resources personnel in using psychometric evaluations and implementing the new methodology to assess 39 applicants who applied to enter the DNP school of cadets. The program continues to provide support to the HR Psychology Department by conducting the first automated psychometric evaluations on applicants for the DNP Cadet Academy, who will train for the next four years, receiving a Bachelor’s degree in Police Science and placed into active police service. These initiatives strengthen police personnel and provide the communities they serve with the most qualified police officers, who are well-rounded individuals with critical thinking and problem-solving skills that foster better relationships with members of the community.  In addition, identifying officers with the skills and knowledge essential to perform at a high level, ensures community members that DNP is committed to building legitimacy and trust. In the Dominican Republic, ICITAP works with the support of and in coordination with the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).
