Armenia: ICITAP Advances Monitoring and Control Unit Project with Police Leadership

On September 4, ICITAP-Armenia met with Armenian Ministry of Justice personnel and recent ICITAP-trained patrol police leadership to discuss a Monitoring and Control Unit project. This project is designed to increase professionalism of department employees as well as improve upon the reputation of the patrol police. Upon completion of the project, the Monitoring and Control Unit will be tasked with ensuring officer compliance with agency rules and procedures to include adherence to ethical behavior on the street. This unit will also be tasked with duties such as monitoring staff readiness for service, accountability of patrol equipment, and compliance with department service discipline and anti-corruption laws. In Armenia, ICITAP works jointly with the State Department’s Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) to advise, train, and assist the Armenian government in standing up newly trained and selected law enforcement agencies.
