Ukraine: ICITAP-Supported Police Officers of the Community Complete Basic Training

On March 27, the ICITAP-Ukraine mission provided an update on its assistance to the National Police of Ukraine. Two hundred (200) police officers recently graduated from Patrol Officer Basic Training in Vinnytsia, Ukraine. This 17th iteration of the program was supported by ICITAP-Ukraine’s mission in Kyiv. The 2.5-month long training involved a rigorous curriculum. ICITAP-trained instructors led key courses, including "Basic Investigation" and "Springboard." The program emphasized practical problem-solving, culminating in students collaboratively developing solutions for real-life safety challenges in their communities. Even air raid alerts couldn't disrupt the training; classes simply relocated to bomb shelters. The trainees took a final comprehensive exam with three complex scenarios simulating real-life police work, covering traffic safety, domestic violence, and various administrative and criminal offenses. One hundred ninety-eight (198) officers successfully passed the exam and graduated. This program in Ukraine, is funded and supported by the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs, demonstrating ongoing U.S. commitment to supporting Ukrainian law enforcement.
