Court Assigned: This case is assigned to Judge George Caram Steeh, U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, Courtroom 236, United States Courthouse, 231 W. Lafayette Blvd., Detroit, MI 48226. Unless noted in an update below, all court events will take place at this location.

UPDATE – June 1, 2018: On May 29, 2018, the court approved Special Master Green’s claims forms, notice program, and request for an extension of the current claims filing deadline. The deadline for filling out a claim form is August 31, 2018, and you can find the form here.

A hearing is scheduled for March 5, 2018, at 3:00 PM. The purpose of the hearing is for the court to hear an objection by Takata Corporation to the individual restitution fund distribution methodology proposed by Special Master Green.

On July 31, 2017, Eric D. Green was appointed by the court to serve as the Special Master to administer the Takata restitution funds. If you would like to learn more about the Individual Restitution Fund’s distribution process, please visit this webpage.

On February 27, 2017, Takata Corporation pleaded guilty to one count of wire fraud and was sentenced to pay a total of $1 billion in criminal penalties, including $975 million in restitution and a $25 million fine. The hearing date for Takata Corporation’s guilty plea and sentencing has been set for February 27, 2017, at 1:30pm, and is scheduled before Judge Steeh at the above listed location.
