Case Updates

Court Assigned: This case is assigned to Judge John M. Gerrard, U.S. District Court for the District of Nebraska, Robert V. Denney Federal Building, 100 Centennial Mall North, Lincoln, NE 68508. Unless noted in an update below, all court events will take place at this location.

On March 24, 2016, James A. Laphen was sentenced to 34 months in prison, followed by 2 years of supervised release, and was ordered to pay a $200,000 fine and pay, jointly and severally with his co-defendants, $3,122,696 in restitution. For additional information, please see the Judgment.

It is important for you to know that just because the Court ordered the defendant to make restitution in this case does not mean that the defendant is financially capable of making restitution at this time. In the event that sufficient restitution payments are received from the defendant, the funds will be distributed by the Clerk of the United States District Court for the District of Nebraska.
