On September 20, ICITAP partnered with the American Academy of Forensic Sciences (AAFS) as part of the International Affairs Committee’s "Global Collaboration of Forensic Scientists" to present an installment of the educational webinar series on Missing Persons. ICITAP hosted content delivered the Director at the DNA analysis section of the German Federal Criminal Police Office and member of the Expert Panel to the International Commission on Missing Persons (ICMP); and a forensic geneticist and Senior Manager of Forensics at RTI International, where she serves as the Forensic Services Program Manager for the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUS). She presented during the earthquake response in Morocco and spoke on the ICMP’s operations and processes for missing persons internationally. She also discussed the features of the NamUS database and how its cross-referenced information on DNA, dental, and fingerprint records is used in missing persons and unidentified human remains cases in the United States. The webinar had 240 attendees from 31 countries.
