Eric McArthur

Eric McArthur serves as the Deputy Assistant Attorney General for the Appellate Staff of the Civil Division. He rejoined the Department from Sidley Austin LLP in Washington, D.C., where he practiced for 16 years, including 10 years as a partner in the firm’s Supreme Court and Appellate and Regulatory Litigation practice groups. He previously served at the Department from 2017 to 2018 as a Deputy Associate Attorney General.

Eric is a graduate of the University of Chicago Law School and Brigham Young University. He clerked on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit for Judge J. Michael Luttig and on the U.S. Supreme Court for Justice Clarence Thomas.
