Former OFL Director Bruno Ristau's Passing
The Office of Foreign Litigation (OFL) mourns the passing of its longtime director, Bruno Ristau. Mr. Ristau led OFL from 1963 to 1981, during an important formative period for international law in the United States, and he was a highly influential scholar and practitioner of public international law and cross-border litigation. Bruno Ristau was one of the drafters of the U.S. Foreign Sovereign Immunities Act (1976) and a groundbreaking expert on the law of international judicial assistance. We are grateful for his contributions to our office and to the field of international law as a whole and express our condolences to his family.
