[REDACTED TEXT (b7D)]

Dear [REDACTED TEXT (b7D)]

Your letter of April 2, 1997, to Vice President Gore was forwarded to me by the Vice President's office for a response. Your letter expresses concern about the effects of Frito-Lay's business conduct on [REDACTED TEXT (b7D)]

As you know, the Antitrust Division is investigating allegations of anticompetitive business practices in the salty snack food industry. Indeed, I understand that you have already spoken with Nina Hale, the lawyer injpharge of the investigation about the difficulties your client, [REDACTED TEXT (b7D)] is encountering. Please do not hesitate to get in touch with her again if you have additional information that you believe is relevant to our investigation.

We appreciate your interest in this matter and in the enforcement of the antitrust laws.

Sincerely,

Joel I. Klein
