Indian Country Law Enforcement Coordination and Outreach – National Indian Police Academy

On June 10, 2016, Supervisory Assistant U.S. Attorney Kyle Nayback addressed the 158^th graduating class of the National Indian Police Academy at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Artesia.  The graduating law enforcement officers successfully completed the 16-week Rural Police Officer Training Program, and have been assigned to various Tribal Police Departments around the United States.  The presentation included remarks on the cooperative relationship the U.S. Attorney’s Office has with its tribal police partners in combating violent crime in Indian Country, the different types of work and cases USAO does in Indian Country, and of course words of encouragement and inspiration for those graduates who will be asked to put themselves in harm’s way for the benefit and safety of tribal members.  Participation in this event served as another step towards building relationships of trust and collaboration with tribal police departments in the District of New Mexico and throughout the United States.
