Adopted School – Virtual Martial Arts classes

In mid-December, in partnership with the DEA, the Office presented a week-long virtual martial arts program to the 1st through 4th graders at Buchanan Street Elementary School. Presented through the DEA Educational Foundation, the students participated in the 45 minute martial arts classes, taught by an instructor from KaizenDojo in Torrance, via their distanced learning platform and had the opportunity to learn skills from martial arts professionals. The free program was established under the Drug Enforcement Administration's Education Foundation, to empower kids by providing a free and positive afterschool alternative to drugs through fun, healthy, and active events. The program curriculum incorporates the DEA Educational Foundation’s anti-drug messages and themes such as: participating in positive alternatives to drugs and gang violence, the building of self-esteem, teamwork, resisting negative peer pressure, and making healthy choices.
