1545. Suspension Of State And Local Jurisdiction -- 18 U.S.C. 1751(h)

This section provides that Federal investigative or prosecutive jurisdiction asserted for a violation of § 1751 suspends the exercise of jurisdiction by a State or local authority, under any applicable State or local law, until Federal action is terminated.

The suspension of State jurisdiction is not a final preclusion of State jurisdiction and does not prevent the states from cooperating with Federal authorities in an investigation of violations of the act. S. Rep. No. 498, 89th Cong., 1st Sess. 2 (1965), reprinted in U.S. Code Cong. and Adm. News 2866, 2867.
