1514. United States Identification Document—18 U.S.C. § 1028

As stated in 18 U.S.C. § 1028(c)(1), both genuine and false identification documents which are issued or appear to be issued under the authority of the United States are covered. There is extraterritorial jurisdiction over offenses involving United States identification documents under the generally recognized "protective principle" of international law.
