Philippines: ICITAP Facilitates Greater Participation of Women in the National Police

On October 5, ICITAP facilitated the completion of 10 concurrent iterations of the two-week Instructor Development Course to 187 Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) cadets in Silang, Cavite. The Instructor Development Course aims to prepare the PNPA cadet in his/her future career as a law enforcement officer. These cadets must complete a four-year program and, upon completion, are commissioned throughout the Philippines in varied assignments at the rank of Inspector (Lieutenant equivalent). The 187 PNPA cadets of the class of 2019 (29 of whom are women (15.5%)) received training from 20 ICITAP-trained PNP instructors coming from different cities on the methods for successful delivery of instruction to law enforcement personnel, including classroom management, student engagement, and assessment of individual student performance. This activity is through the coordination and support from the State Department’s Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL).
