Albania: ICITAP Strengthens Internal Affairs Agency During COVID-19 Pandemic

On May 12, ICITAP commenced training on an ICITAP-developed computerized Case Management System (CMS) for the Service for Internal Affairs and Complaints (SIAC) under the restrictions brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic. The CMS provides SIAC with increased ability to track citizen complaints, deliver performance outputs and perform statistical analysis with the goal of increased efficiency and transparency. Training was initially planned for March with 20 people attending each session. However, the COVID-19 pandemic made this hazardous. Under these new conditions, an interim training methodology was developed so as not to delay critical CMS implementation. Training was limited to five people. Before entering the training building, each participant had their temperature taken to mitigate against any health issues. Lastly, once in the classroom, participants sat physically distant from each other. During this times, adaptability is critical to progress policing assistance to Albania.
