Comp formula should NOT be altered
Contrary to a lot of the commentary you are doubtlessly receiving, I believe that the Special Master should stand fast and NOT alter his original plan to include set offs in calculating the ultimate awards.
The taxpayers of the United States do NOT owe the victims' families a cent, and the entire idea of the fund was misguided and naive. But since congress has seen fit to establish the fund, let's keep it from becoming a lottery. Most of these families will be receiving enough money so that the surviving spouse will never have to lift a finger again or worry about saving for their children's college. But it doesn't appear to be enough, if that shameless spectacle on Park Avenue yesterday (Jan. 17, 2002) was any indication.
Do not bow to the pressure of grandstanding politicians and ungrateful guilt mongerers.
