Compensation Fund Comment

To Whom It May Concern:

My brother died on September 11.  He was the youngest in my family; it never crossed my mind that he would be the first to leave us from this world.

It is very difficult for us to lose him especially when he had such a bright future ahead of him.  We were looking forward to seeing him get married with his girlfriend of 4 years, have children, and share his home with my mother and his father, my stepfather.  All these wonderful thoughts and happy moments can never be realized.

All we ever wish now is that he could come back to us, and continue his life.

Although no amount of money could ever compensate the value of my brother’s life, I would like to express my concern about pain and suffering that his girlfriend, who would have been his wife, had he not lost his life on that day.   His girlfriend loves him so much; she cries everyday since that day.  I don’t understand why she should not be compensated for her suffering.   She would have been my brother’s wife.  She should get similar compensation as any spouse of victim would get for the loss one.  He loved her so much that he made his last phone call to her.  I think that the Special Master should address the issue of compensation to girlfriends/boyfriends of victims.

I hope compensation program should address the concern of the boyfriends/girlfriends/fiancés of the victims.  I believe that they should be compensated as the dreams and futures have also been shattered.  My brother’s girlfriend will never be able to walk down that aisle with my brother.
