Dear Mr. Zwick,
I am writing in response to the Departrment of Justice's request
for public comments regarding the forthcoming regulations for
implementing and administering the "September 11 Victim
Compensation Fund." I strongly, like so many other Americans, believe that
the Department must ensure compensation is available to all victims of the
September 11th attack, including gays and lesbians and their families.
The losses suffered by the families of gay and lesbian victims are
no less than that of other families. Not compensating gays and lesbians
would be unfair and further, would suggest that the federal government does
not consider gays and lesbians to be equal under the law.
I urge the Department of Justice to honor all victims of the September 11th
disaster in an effort to treat all American's equally.
Sincerely,
Individual Comment
