CROSS LANES MAN PLEADS GUILTY IN FEDERAL COURT FOR VIOLATING SEX OFFENDER REGISTRATION LAWS
CHARLESTON, W.Va. – U.S. Attorney Booth Goodwin today announced that a Cross Lanes man pleaded guilty for failing to register as a sex offender. Christopher T. Cadle, 28, admitted to the charge today in federal court.
On April 7, 2004, Cadle was convicted in Kanawha County, West Virginia of third degree sexual abuse. As a result of his sex offense conviction, Cadle was required to register as a sex offender. On June 8, 2011, the defendant registered as a sex offender in the state of West Virginia.
An investigation conducted by the United States Marshals Service revealed that Cadle traveled in interstate commerce to the state of North Carolina, where he resided from June 9, 2011 until October 2011. On June 10, 2011, Cadle registered as a sex offender with the Iredell County, North Carolina Sheriff’s Department.
The investigation further revealed that at some time in October 2011, Cadle traveled in interstate commerce to West Virginia where he resided in Cross Lanes, Kanawha County. Cadle admitted that he failed to register as a sex offender as required by the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act.
Cadle faces up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine when he is sentenced on December 6, 2012 by United States District Judge John T. Copenhaver, Jr.
The United States Marshals Service conducted the investigation. Assistant United States Attorney Lisa Johnston is in charge of the prosecution.
