HUNTINGTON MAN SENTENCED TO THREE YEARS IN PRISON ON CRACK COCAINE DISTRIBUTION CHARGE
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. –Floyd Barnett, 24, of Huntington, was sentenced today to three years in prison by United States District Judge Robert C. Chambers for distribution of a quantity of crack cocaine. Barnett pleaded guilty in May. The defendant admitted that on December 28, 2010, he sold a quantity of crack cocaine to a confidential informant working with the Huntington Violent Crime and Drug Task Force (HVCDTF) in exchange for $300. The confidential informant also paid an additional $100 to the defendant to satisfy a prior drug debt. The defendant also admitted that on December 29, 2010, he sold a quantity of crack cocaine to an informant in exchange for $1600. Both controlled drug transactions conducted by the HVCDTF occurred at the defendant’s Huntington residence. On February 18, 2011, members of the HVCDTF executed a search warrant of Barnett’s residence where they discovered approximately 184 grams of crack cocaine, 3.5 pounds of marijuana, and $7000 cash.
The Huntington Violent Crime and Drug Task Force (HVCDTF) conducted the investigation. Assistant United States Attorney Gregory McVey handled the prosecution.
