SISSONVILLE MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO FEDERAL HEROIN DISTRIBUTION CHARGE
CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Jeremy David Parker, 32, of Sissonville, West Virginia, pleaded guilty yesterday in federal court before United States District Judge Thomas E. Johnston to conspiracy to distribute 100 grams or more of heroin. Parker admitted that from about December 2010 until March 17, 2011, he conspired with other known individuals to distribute heroin in the Charleston area. The defendant further admitted that during the conspiracy, he allowed co-conspirators to drive his vehicle to deliver heroin and assisted fellow co-conspirators in distributing the heroin. Parker admitted that on January 11, 2011, he sold a quantity of heroin to a confidential informant working with the Metropolitan Drug Enforcement Network Team. At the time of the drug transaction, the informant met the defendant in South Charleston and provided the defendant with $120 in exchange for a balloon of heroin. The heroin tested positive with a weight of .42 grams.
Parker faces a minimum mandatory of five years in prison and a $5 million fine when he is sentenced on January 17, 2011.
The investigation was conducted by the Metropolitan Drug Enforcement Network Team (MDENT) and the Drug Enforcement Administration. Assistant United States Attorney Monica Dillon is in charge of the prosecution.
