DETROIT MAN SENTENCED ON OXYCODONE DISTRIBUTION CHARGE
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Jerry Kent Brown, 43, of Detroit, was sentenced today to five years probation by United States District Judge Robert C. Chambers for distribution of oxycodone. Brown admitted that on January 8, 2010, he sold 80-milligram oxycodone tablets to an informant working for the Huntington Violent Crimes and Drug Task Force on two different occasions. The defendant further admitted that both transactions occurred in Huntington and involved a total of five 80-milligram tablets.
This case was investigated by the Huntington Violent Crimes and Drug Task Force. Assistant United States Attorney Joshua Hanks handled the prosecution.
This case was prosecuted as part of an ongoing effort led by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of West Virginia to combat the illicit sale and misuse of prescription drugs. The U.S. Attorney’s Office, joined by various federal, state and local law enforcement agencies, remain committed to aggressively pursuing and shutting down illegal pill trafficking, eliminating open air drug markets and curtailing the spread of opiate painkillers in communities across the Southern District.
