HUNTINGTON MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO FEDERAL DRUG CHARGE

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Craig Joseph Crawford, 54, of Huntington, pleaded guilty yesterday in federal court before United States District Judge Robert C. Chambers to conspiracy to distribute five kilograms or more of cocaine.  Crawford admitted that from January 2008 until January 2010, he participated in a cocaine distribution ring in and around Huntington.  The defendant further admitted that he obtained between one and two kilograms of cocaine per shipment from individuals located in Lexington, Kentucky and subsequently distributed the cocaine on consignment to various individuals in the Huntington area.

Crawford admitted that he was responsible for distributing 20 kilograms of cocaine and agreed to forfeit his residence located in Huntington.

Crawford faces mandatory minimum of 10 years to life in prison and a $10 million fine when he is sentenced on February 13, 2012.

The investigation was conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration.  Assistant United States Attorney Joseph F. Adams is in charge of the prosecution.
