MOUNT HOPE MAN SENTENCED TO PRISON ON FEDERAL DRUG CHARGES

BECKLEY, W.Va. – Roy Davis Bolen, 59, of Mount Hope, West Virginia, was sentenced today to 21 months in prison by United States District Judge Irene C. Berger for distribution of cocaine.  Bolen pleaded guilty in July.  The defendant admitted that on May 17, 2011, he met with a confidential informant working with the West Virginia State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigations near Bradley, Raleigh County, to complete a drug transaction.  Bolen admitted that he sold 4.53 grams of cocaine to the informant.

The Court also sentenced the defendant to an additional 15 months in prison because he committed his offense while under supervised release following a prior federal conviction for cocaine distribution.  Both prison sentences will be served consecutively.

The investigation was conducted by the West Virginia State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigations.  Assistant United States Attorney John File handled the prosecution.
