DETROIT MAN SENTENCED TO 104 MONTHS IN PRISON ON FEDERAL DRUG CHARGE
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Antoine L. Louis, 27, of Detroit, was sentenced today to 104 months in prison by United States District Judge Robert C. Chambers for distribution of cocaine. Louis previously pleaded guilty in February. Louis admitted that on August 19, 2010, he arrived at the Smokin’ Aces store that was located in Huntington and arranged a drug transaction between his associate and an undercover agent working for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). The defendant admitted that shortly after arranging the transaction, his associate arrived at the Smokin’ Aces store and placed a plastic bag containing a quantity of cocaine on a scale. Louis also admitted that following a price negotiation, an undercover agent handed his associate $1500 in exchange for the cocaine.
The substance was subsequently sent to the Drug Enforcement Administration laboratory where it tested positive for cocaine weighing 23.9 grams.
Louis further admitted that in 2010, he participated in five separate illegal oxycodone pill transactions: On July 14 involving 20 80-milligram oxycodone pills; July 20 involving 20 80-milligram oxycodone pills; July 22 involving 5 80-milligram oxycodone pills; August 18 involving 49 80-milligram oxycodone pills; and August 19 involving a total of 95 80-milligram oxycodone pills from two sales.
The investigation was conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). Assistant United States Attorney Gregory McVey handled the prosecution.
This case was prosecuted as part of a yearlong undercover operation that targeted illegal drugs and firearms crimes in the Huntington area. The operation was led by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and assisted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office, the Huntington Police Department, and various other law enforcement agencies. It was announced to the public in March after a grand jury returned indictments against 55 defendants.
