BECKLEY FEDERAL INMATE SENTENCED ON POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE

BECKLEY, W.Va. – Federal Correctional Institution at Beckley inmate Jerrod Martin, 31, was sentenced today to one year in prison by United States District Judge Irene C. Berger for simple possession of a controlled substance.  Martin pleaded guilty in August to the charge.  Martin admitted that on June 30, 2010, he had possessed approximately one gram of heroin inside the Federal Correctional Institution at Beckley.

Martin is currently serving a 210-month prison sentence for drug and firearms offenses.

The Federal Bureau of Prisons conducted the investigation.  Assistant United States Attorney John File handled the prosecution.
