PENNSYLVANIA MAN SENTENCED TO MORE THAN TWELVE YEARS IN PRISON ON FEDERAL DRUG CHARGE
CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Rahman Terry, also known as “Rodney,” 33, of McKees Rock, Pennsylvania, was sentenced today to 151 months prison and three years of supervised release by United States District Judge Thomas E. Johnston for possession with the intent to distribute heroin. Terry pleaded guilty in April to the charge.
On January 16, 2011, Terry was a passenger in a vehicle that included two known associates and a dog. During a trip from Crafton, Pennsylvania to Charleston, West Virginia, the group was stopped by police near Charleston. Prior to a search of the vehicle, the defendant asked to remove the dog from the vehicle. As the defendant proceeded to remove the dog, he obtained an item from his duffel bag, which he threw into bushes located near the roadside. Police subsequently retrieved the item that the defendant admitted to throwing. Terry admitted that the item seized by police contained 55 individual packets of heroin, which he intended to distribute in the Southern District of West Virginia.
The investigation was conducted by the West Virginia State Police. Assistant United States Attorney Monica Schwartz handled the prosecution.
