ROANE COUNTY MAN SENTENCED TO MORE THAN FOUR YEARS IN FEDERAL PRISON ON METHAMPHETAMINE DISTRIBUTION CHARGE
CHARLESTON, W.Va. – U.S. Attorney Booth Goodwin announced today that a Roane County man was sentenced to four years and three months in federal prison for distribution of methamphetamine. Carl Metheney, 58, of Roane County, W.Va., previously pleaded guilty in November. The defendant admitted that on June 10, 2010, he sold a quantity of methamphetamine to a confidential informant working with the West Virginia State Police in exchange for $1000. Metheney further admitted that the illegal transaction occurred near his Roane County residence.
The substance which the defendant sold at the time was submitted to the Drug Enforcement Administration lab for analysis and proved to be 6.3 grams of a mixture containing methamphetamine.
The West Virginia State Police and the Drug Enforcement Administration conducted the investigation. Assistant United States Attorney John Frail handled the prosecution. The sentenced was imposed by United States District Judge John T. Copenhaver, Jr.
